We are heading to Leuven. Tomorrow, 22 October 2026, the Hotel Business Event returns to the Brabanthal for its second edition, and we will be there for the day.
What the Hotel Business Event Is
Organised by FCO Media, the publisher behind Hotel Business magazine, the Hotel Business Event is a networking and congress day built specifically for the hotel and lodging sector. The first edition in September 2025 brought hoteliers together around two live challenges, reputation management and the search for staff. This year follows the same idea: pick the themes that are genuinely keeping hotel owners awake, put them on stage, and leave plenty of room for people to talk to each other.
That format matters. It is small enough that you can speak to almost everyone in the room, and focused enough that the conversations stay on the sector instead of drifting into general trade show talk. As the organisers put it, a sector in motion deserves a place where knowledge, inspiration and contacts come together.
Why the Benelux Deserves Its Own Event
Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg have a hotel market that behaves differently from much of the rest of Europe. There is a large base of independent and family owned properties, many with fewer than eighty rooms, plus a good number of small regional groups that grew by adding one property at a time. In a market like that there is rarely an internal technology team, and rarely a procurement department. The owner, the general manager, or the same person wearing both hats, makes the call.
That shapes everything. Software decisions get made quickly, but they get made on trust, and often on the recommendation of someone whose hotel looks like yours. Meanwhile a lean team has to cover front desk, housekeeping, revenue and guest messaging at the same time.
What Benelux Hotels Are Actually Wrestling With
- Reputation: guests in the Benelux review quickly and in more than one language, and OTA ranking rewards fast, personal replies.
- Staffing: a smaller pool of experienced front office and housekeeping people makes simple, well understood systems more valuable than feature rich ones.
- Distribution: direct booking share is growing, but keeping rates aligned across the big OTAs, regional platforms and the hotel's own website still takes hours every week.
- Consolidation: many properties carry three or four tools that overlap, so the bill grows while the integration gaps get worse.
None of that is unique to the Benelux, but the scale is. When the whole team is eight people, an extra login is not a minor annoyance, it is a shift that nobody can cover.
What We Are Looking For on the Floor
We work with hotels and with technology companies, and events like this are where both sides end up in the same room. We want to hear which tools Benelux hoteliers have quietly stopped using. We want to know what a general manager in Antwerp or a city hotel in Rotterdam is replacing this year, and why. And we want to catch up properly with the tech partners on the floor, because the products that genuinely work for a thirty room property are not always the ones with the loudest presence.
It is also the fastest way to keep our own advice honest. If we recommend a stack, it should reflect what Benelux properties are actually running in 2026, not what was standard two years ago.
Practical Notes If You Are Going
- Register online before you travel, it saves time at the entrance.
- Bring one real question about your own setup rather than a general one. It makes every conversation shorter and more useful.
- Talk to the smaller stands. That is often where the tools built for independent properties are hiding.
- Take notes on pricing and contract length, not just features. It is the part most people forget the moment they leave the building.
Come and Say Hello
If you are at the Brabanthal tomorrow, we would like to meet you. We are happy to talk through your tech stack, look at where you might be overpaying, or simply compare notes on what you are seeing in your market. You can find the practical details on our events page, or book a slot with us before you travel.
